State Board of Education Vice Chair Marcia Neal selected to serve on Board of Governors for Children’s Land Alliance Supporting Schools
Colorado State Board of Education Vice Chair Marcia Neal was recently selected to serve on the Board of Governors for the Children’s Land Alliance Support Schools (CLASS).
CLASS is a non-profit alliance of educators, state trustee agencies, developers and children advocates devoted to raising awareness about school trust lands and their impact on school funding for students. CLASS is the only organization of its kind which uses information on trust law and protections provided by state Constitution in order to conduct research, provide information, training and support services to educational organizations. An annual conference is held each summer where members can network, learn and share new ideas, challenges, solutions and goals.
Benefits of CLASS’s collaborative efforts by education leaders include improved education through increased funding from school trusts, support by education communities for state and federal actions that benefit school lands and schools, increased revenue from permanent school funds through investment strategies, new research to support trust managers, and assistance in the development of public information about the trust lands and their purpose for educating children.
Neal has been active with CLASS Colorado, the state organization, since 2009, representing the Colorado State
Board of Education.
“I look forward to continuing my relationships with the diverse memberships in this group,” Neal said.
