State Board Of Education This Week Will Receive Recommendations From The State Council For Educator Effectiveness; Agendas Set For Wednesday, April 13 And Thursday, April 14
The Colorado State Board of Education this week will receive
recommendations from the State Council for Educator Effectiveness that
detail a new statewide teacher and principal evaluation system.
Established by an executive order of former Gov. Bill Ritter in March
2010, the council and its charge was later codified in Senate Bill
10-191, commonly known as “The Great Teacher and Leaders Bill.” The
recommendations are the result of more than 13 months of work and
in-depth, statewide meetings, and will be presented to the state board
on Wednesday, April 13. The meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m. The
presentation on educator effectiveness will commence at 10:30 a.m. and
continue until 12:30 p.m.
The meeting of the state board will continue on Thursday, beginning at 9
a.m. and end at 10:45 a.m. Both meetings will be held in the first-floor
board room at the Colorado Department of Education, 201 E. Colfax Ave.,
in Denver.

Note: The Colorado State Board of Education has scheduled executive
sessions this week (closed to the public) to consider the employment of
a public official pursuant to C.R.S. 24-6-402(3)(b)(I). The meetings are
Wednesday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.;
also Thursday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. or until conclusion.
