Postsecondary Workforce Readiness Assessment Pilot
As part of the Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids (SB-212), Colorado implemented a pilot program during the fall and spring semesters of the 2008-2009 school year. The purpose of the pilot was to evaluate various postsecondary and workforce readiness assessments. Information gathered through the pilot will help determine the utility of such assessments on a large scale basis in Colorado, as well as provide information to stakeholders involved with the current state assessment revision process.
Piloted Assessments:
- ACT’s EXPLORE and PLAN
- NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
- Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
- Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT)
- Those schools that piloted the PSAT, also had to take the Partnership for the Assessment of Standards-Based Science (PASS). The PSAT does not assess Science, so the PASS fulfilled this mandatory component.
Final Results:
Executive Summary - This document summarizes all major aspects of the pilot, including the schools that participated, results from the school and student surveys, and conclusions from the data analyses conducted on the piloted assessments.
Study of Colorado's Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Assessment Pilot - This is the final report delivered to CDE by the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment (NCIEA). It gives an in-depth description of the analyses performed on the pilot data and what conclusions were determined.

School Survey Conclusions - This report gives detailed information regarding the mandatory survey distributed to all schools that participated in the pilot.
Student Survey Conclusions - This report gives detailed information regarding the voluntary survey distributed to students that took the piloted assessments.
